Runway models

 



“Runway models” (also called catwalk models or fashion models) are professional models who walk the runway during fashion shows to showcase clothing and accessories designed by fashion designers. 


Runway Models:


1. Purpose:

Their main job is to wear and display new fashion collections for designers during fashion weeks and other events.



2. Appearance:


Typically tall (usually 5’9″ or taller for women; 6’0″ or taller for men).


Slim body type with balanced proportions.


Unique facial features and confident posture.




3. Skills:


Excellent runway walk (“catwalk”)—graceful, confident, and smooth.


Ability to express different moods or designer concepts using facial expressions and body language.


Must handle quick outfit changes and high-pressure environments.




4. Events:


Appear in major fashion weeks like Paris, Milan, New York, and London.


Walk for luxury brands like Gucci, Chanel, Dior, Versace, etc.




5. Types of Runway Models:


High Fashion / Editorial Models – for elite designer shows.


Commercial Runway Models – for more mainstream clothing brands.


Plus-size Runway Models – for inclusive size fashion shows.
